Waterloo heritage precinct

The Waterloo heritage precinct was saved by a the Resident Action Group led by Margaret Barry and the Builders Labourers’ Federation, who imposed a Green Ban to prevent the expansion of the Waterloo estate eastwards in the 1970s. Working class housing was preserved and medium-density infill public housing added. In the 21st century, dozens of the original terraces have been sold by the NSW Government. Since 2011, 7 homes have been sold for a total of $7m.
