The Ivanhoe estate was a 259-unit estate completed in the early 1990s. Sitting adjacent to the Macquarie Park business precinct, Macquarie University and new Metro station, it was seen as a high-value asset by the Coalition government when they announced redevelopment in 2015, as part of the ‘Communities Plus’ program. Demolition is underway to enable the construction of more than 2000 private homes alongside 954 social homes and 130 ‘affordable’ homes managed by Mission Australia. The project is expected to conclude in 2032.
