The Explorer Street estate in South Eveleigh is a collection of 46 homes completed in 1991. The Minns Labor Government is proceeding with plans to rezone the precinct so that it can be redeveloped. The Department of Planning and Environment has stated that there will be ‘more and better’ social housing but has not provided detail on how many homes will be built – whether public, social or private. Action for Public Housing is campaigning against this project and calling on the Minns Government to add public housing through the North Eveleigh redevelopment instead.
